"시는 거리다. 하수도로 가득찬 도시다.

성자와 영웅, 거지와 미치광이로 가득한.

평범함과 술자리로 가득한.



비와 천둥, 그리고 가뭄의 시기로 채워진,

시는 전쟁통의 도시이다.

그건 시니컬한 주정뱅이로 가득한 이발소.

시는 도시이다. 시는 국가이고 시는 세계이다. "


_틈새와 찌꺼기, 그 모든 '불필요'들이 있어야 시가 가능하다. 어딘가로 몇 분안에 도착해야하는, 효율적으로 처음과 끝이 계산된 걷기에서는 시가 가능하지 않다. 걸어도, 목적 없이 발길이 자주적 의지에 무엇을 걸어야, 배회, 산보, 산책, 방랑을 해야, 그렇게 '여지'를 남겨두어야, 시가 가능하다. looser로서의 hank의 삶을 지지하는 것은 아니지만, 효율성의 기계 안에 속해버린 이 도시에서 그런 '여분의 삶'들이 발 붙일 곳이란 없는 것이고, 하여, 시 또한 가능하지 않은 무엇이다.
